Haberdashery

What would be your description of your game?

Haberdashery is a cosy simulation game where you play as young witch Val as they are drawn to Little Bobbin, a town where a dark energy is stopping the town’s adventurers from finding treasures or exploring even basic dungeons. The only place with any positivity is a haberdashery owned by the powerful witch Callisto, on the verge of retiring. Val becomes Callisto’s apprentice, restoring the townfolk’s treasured clothing, enchanting them with magic to empower the wearer and defeat the great evil.

How did development start? Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?

Earlier this year, we took part in the Interactive Futures Sustainable Fashion (IFSF) Challenge, a competition run by Future Fashion Factory and the Applied Games Lab. After learning about how few people feel confident in repairing their clothes, we came up with the idea for a game about clothing repairs, featuring real-world repair techniques which the player can use in real life to repair their own clothes. As one of four winners, we received funding to develop our idea into a prototype to pitch to publishers.
