Project Sentinel, by Mark Jones
What would be your description of your game?
Zero Tolerance is a 16-bit inspired 2D pixel-art run-and-gun platformer that blends classic arcade action with satirical dystopian law enforcement. Intimidate suspects into compliance with a cybernetic roar, or embrace the brutal Zero Tolerance Initiative and enforce order through overwhelming firepower. Order will be restored.
How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)
Project Sentinel started out as something simple that I could build on my own. I didn’t want to rely on a team. I wanted something I could shape completely. The art I could handle for the most part, the code… Well I could get better at as I went along. I set out to make an 80s themed cyberpunk game inspired by films like RoboCop, Blade Runner and The Terminator. On the game side, Contra: Hard Corps, Robocop Arcade, RoboCop vs The Terminator and even the more recent Huntdown all helped shape the tone and pacing early on.

Tell us about the team behind the game?
It’s mostly just me handling development and everything in between. A friend joined later to help with the larger promotional artwork and visual polish so I can focus more on everything else. It’s still a small setup, but that’s how I want it. Focused and consistent.
What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?
I want it to feel like something pulled from the arcade era, with a bit of modern flash to sell the cyberpunk aesthetics. The game’s world is built around anthropomorphic characters and gives the game space to be a little darker.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game.
Classic run-and-gun action with a satirical enforcement twist.
