GaMaYo 23 Showcase #11:
Rally driving game Project Leo

Over 35 new games will be on show at GaMaYo on 21st November with 400 developers attending the event to try them out alongside publishers, investors and platform holders. The event is managed by Game Republic along with their Official Partners Red Kite Games, Barclays Games and Creative and Escape Technology

Today we look at demo number 10 confirmed to be at GaMaYo- a rally driving game from North Breeze Entertainment

How would you describe your game?

Realistic physics-based rally racing game set in the beautiful North West England countryside. Get
ready to test your driving skills in different rally vehicles across a variety of surfaces including, dirt
and gravel and become a rally champion!

How did development start?

I’ve loved racing games since I can remember, so Project Leo is a passion project. I have fond
memories of playing titles such as MicroProse GP, Indianapolis 500 in the 80s through to Grand Prix
Legends, Richard Burns Rally, Colin McRae rally, Sega Rally and it was always a dream of mine to
create my own racing title… I just always thought it was too complex and out of reach. It took a lot of
my knowledge from different disciplines, programming, art, music, driving over the years but
thankfully it all came together and I am so glad I stuck in there, it did take me 3 years! Honestly, I still
can’t believe I am playing my own game with full force feedback on a high-end, high-torque direct
drive steering wheel and load-cell pedals and can’t wait for everyone to play it! I’ve been fortunate
enough to experience driving on the limit in a variety of cars in real life and it’s been really
empowering being able to bring that experience to players as close to real thing as I can make it. I’ve
had so much fun making it.

Tell us about the team behind the game?

Solo developer effort, 3 years in the making.

What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?

I am hoping to rekindle that pure, on-the-limit driving and ‘in the zone’ feeling when hurtling around
at break neck speeds that some of the great racing titles bought me growing up. I want players to be
able to learn proper car control and use all the real-world driving techniques like the ‘Scandinavian
flick’ and left foot braking to really hustle the cars and compete for the best stage times. Rally is such
an incredible discipline and is essentially a true test of focus, car control and concentration and I am
hoping to bring this in spades.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game?

Fast, fun, technical and wild rally racing.
