GaMaYo 23 Showcase #10:
Positron races into GaMaYo

Over 35 new games will be on show at GaMaYo on 21st November with 400 developers attending the event to try them out alongside publishers, investors and platform holders. The event is managed by Game Republic along with their Official Partners Red Kite Games, Barclays Games and Creative and Escape Technology

Today we look at demo number 10 confirmed to be at GaMaYo- a game from Martin and Laura Caine

Positron

What would be your description of your game?

Positron is a fast paced arcade racing game inspired by the classic arcade games of the 80’s. Battle against opponents in the Arena, navigate your way out of the Maze, and collect power-ups while avoiding your own trail in Snake.

Coming to Steam Early Access soon (before GaMaYo).

How did development start?

I started work on a little prototype of the core light cycle and grid layout in 2011! Originally developed in XNA for Xbox 360, I later got it running on Windows Phone 7 too. I showed that game during my interview for TickTock Games, and got the job. Over the years, I’ve come back to Positron here and there, rewriting it in C++ and porting my engine to all the various platforms I’ve got access to over the years.

Tell us about the team behind the game?

The game is designed and developed by Me, Martin Caine. I had a little bit of help with the models and music for the game. My Wife Laura has also made a whole bunch of levels for the game, in Paint!

What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?

Positron is designed to be arcade-like. Super simple. Easy to pick up. Fluid, and stylish. I’ve demoed it at dozens of events over the years and players always say they love it, so I’m looking forward to seeing it out on Steam.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game?

Casual Arcade Gameplay, easy to pickup, hard to master.
