Positron, by Retroburn
What would be your description of your game?
Positron is a fast paced arcade style game inspired by the classic arcade games of the 80’s, namely Tron, Battlezone, Tempest, and Star Wars. Battle against opponents in the Arena, navigate your way out of the Maze, and collect power-ups while avoiding your own trail in Snake.
How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)
I first prototyped Positron on an Xbox 360, written in XNA, around the end of 2011. It was inspired by the release of a particular movie, and just wanting to make something simple and arcade like. That prototype landed me a job in the games industry, and over the years I’ve rewritten the game a few times over, rewriting the engine from scratch with support for running on many platforms natively, often just firing it up once a month for an hour here or there in my spare time.

Tell us about the team behind the game?
Positron is designed and developed by myself, Martin Caine, under the Retroburn name.
What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?
An arcade-like experience, pick up and play, but also provide enough depth of gameplay to keep people coming back to play the game too.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game.
Arcade-like, stylistic, nostalgic, and super casual.
