Shadows Across The Sun by Knowledge Is Porridge

What would be your description of your game?

A visually unique Card Battler. Play as a Soldier, Scavenger, or Changeling and explore the twisted debris pulled into orbit by the Anomaly at the heart. Salvage, adapt and build your deck to survive long enough to uncover what the shadows are becoming. Deckbuilding with RPG elements and a stark, Noir style.

How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)

Honestly? It started almost two years ago, the day after I was diagnosed with early Cancer (I am now OK). It started as a distraction, but quickly developed into something with potential. Inspired by physical games I love (Escape the Dark Sector, Card Games, Board Games, etc) and genres I adore (Sci-Fi, Mystery, Film Noir). From a design perspective the main driver was to build something visually distinctive, fast to play and to blend genres (Deckbuilding with RPG trappings and exploration).

Tell us about the team behind the game!

Super small. Just me full time (Dev, Design, Visuals, etc) – it’s a once person company. Joe works on Music, and there’s a tight group of playtesters.

What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?

Familiar card play with unfamiliar classes in a unique setting. Strong, distinctive visuals and an interesting mystery at the heart of the game. A Deck Builder with RPG and exploration elements. It’s a space the encourages failure, rewards taking risks and asks the player to learn encounters and mechanics.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game!

Sci-fi deckbuilder set in the wreckage of a dying system.
