What would be your description of your game?
My game is a physics 2D platformer where you play as a frog using its tongue like a grappling hook to sling from anchor points, climbing higher and higher to escape a deep wishing well. Its all about momentum, precision and the joy of a perfectly timed swing.
How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)
Development began in my second year of university at York St John as part of an assignment to create a doodle jump clone. However while working on it I realised I had the chance to take it in a completely different direction. The idea of turning a simple mechanic like grappling with a tongue into a full original experience is what inspired me to keep building and experimenting outside of university.
Tell us about the team behind the game!
This is a Solo project. I coordinate the coding the design and artsyle. I have been learning a lot along the way and I have been refining the games feel with iterations to make it a much better experience.
What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?
I want players to master the mechanics in the game and feel great about it considering it is not easy at first. It is the kind of game to be fun with an extra added challenge and I want players to feel as if they earned their way to the top.
