If you weren’t excited enough already, we’ve dug up another demo be highlighted ahead of the doors opening and it’s a new game from Just Add Water Development. They attended GaMaYo last year and it’s about time we share what they’ve brought this time round…

Dig VR

As always we spoke to the team at Just Add Water Development they filled us in on what to expect:

What would be your description of Dig VR
“DIG VR captures the sheer joy, adrenaline and frustrations of life on a digger in an exciting experience for novices and pros. Featuring authentic, immersive controls that recreate the feeling of driving a real digger, DIG VR is a light-simulation game with a casual arcade-twist!

How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)
The idea initially started in Italy during lockdown, Leo Zullo managing director of Wired Productions was spending time on a digger on his family farm, when he thought operating a digger in VR would just make sense. Leo & Wired then came to Just Add Water to make it happen and really let us here run with the idea. We went as a team to places like Diggerland to really get the feel of the diggers, but also to see the fun side and bring that into the game.

We wanted to make sure we didn’t just make a dry simulation game, but brought in some humour, fun minigames and other quirky features to broaden the games appeal. We looked at other lite-sim games such as Powerwash Simulator, those games you can easily lose yourself in for hours. ”

Tell us about the team behind Dig VR?
Just Add Water is a games development studio located in Leeds, founded in 2006. Hot off the back of Sniper Elite VR & Sniper Elite VR Winter Warrior, we are diving into our next VR game with Dig VR. ”

What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?
We hope that players really get to feel and experience what it is like to operate a digger, but go beyond that to make it enjoyable and fun. We didn’t want to just appeal to digger / sim enthusiasts, but also to those people who may have no interest in diggers at all.

A heavy inspiration for the game was Powerwash Simulator and how it has such a broad appeal, once people play that game they are hooked regardless of if they like power washing or not. We’re hoping people can also get the same level of relaxing, chill gameplay from Dig VR.”

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of Dig VR?
“Unearth a passion you never knew you had, with Dig VR!”

Look forward to seeing Dig VR and trying it out in person later on TODAY (May 23rd) at GaMaYo, Tileyard North, Wakefield.
