Witchmarsh: Tea Party of the Damned by Inglenook Games

What would be your description of your game?

It’s the Roaring Twenties, and a series of mysterious vanishings has shaken the town of Witchmarsh. As private detectives, you’d arrived in Boston with hopes of securing the case, but there’s one thing you didn’t count on… being poisoned, cursed, and cast down into an eldritch plane of existence by a gang of felonious warlocks. It’s always something in this business, isn’t it? Witchmarsh: Tea Party of the Damned is a short, party-based RPG set in the 1920s. Players create a team of investigators and lead them through a subterranean mega-dungeon, hidden beneath the streets of Jazz Age New England.

How did development start? (Were there any key inspirations or ideas that drove you?)

We posted the game on Tumblr in 2013 and rapidly developed a following. We’ve been working on Witchmarsh and Witchmarsh: Tea Party of the Damned side by side for around 10 years now, and we’re hyped to be approaching release on the first title in the series.

Tell us about the team behind the game?

We’re a two-person dev team based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire. We’re also joined by our extremely talented music composer, Francisco Cerda, who is based in Chile.

What kind of experiences do you hope to bring players?

Witchmarsh is kind of unique in that it’s a full classic RPG played from a 2D platformer perspective. It’s not really been done before, and that’s caused all kinds of unique challenges, but it’s also added to the excitement.

In 10 words or less, highlight the appeal of the game.

Jazzy 1920s Pixel-art, plus RPG mechanics! What’s not to love?
